CHECK OUT our evidence based research
Some key findings include:
Increase the proportion of patients that undertook 1 X 30 min bout of moderate to vigorous physical activity from 30% to 90.5%.
Perceptions of Quality of Life improved throughout the first three months (During the free 12 wk intervention).
Health status improved on average from 65-75 and remained significantly higher at 12 months than it did at baseline.
93% chance that the intervention is cost saving and a 99% chance that it improves health.
When considered together there is a 99% chance that it is cost effective at a threshold of £20,000 per QALY gained.
As a result of Active for Health, professionals across the health care system endorsed the programme and the promotion of physical activity.
Not measured in the report, but 98% of people improved their fitness level from baseline to 12 weeks attending one session per week. This highlights a significant behavioural change within the other six days of the week which positively impacted upon their health and fitness due to this positive lifestyle change.
All pathways were condition specific referral, linked to primary care and delivered by Level 4 Exercise Specialists (Affiliated to the Register of Exercise Specialists) as recommended by NICE Guidance.
